JimThorpe, PA Fall Foliage Planner 2016

JimThorpePA_Autumn_2016.jpg

The above chart is the attempt to predict when autumn’s peak color will happen in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, based on the passed years’ reports from foliagenetwork.com. The gray columns are the 2016 weekends so you can plan ahead; this is particularly helpful for travelers looking to book a hotel in advance. Leaf drop is not included on the chart because if storms do come the leaves will still change around the same time. See my home page for other cities.

See the above chart for the 2016 predictions for Jim Thorpe, PA fall foliage. The best times to see autumn’s peak colors in the area will be October 15 – 25th, 2016.

Definitely plan some outdoor activities the weekend of October 22 -23th for the most beautiful fall foliage this year.

If you do visit the charming small town of Jim Thorpe, I highly recommend taking a ride on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway. There’s a lovely 45 minute looped ride through the Lehigh Gorge’s mountain scenery. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis at the ticket booth in downtown Jim Thorpe. Trains depart on the hour from 10am-4pm on weekend days in October. If you are dressed warm enough ride the open car – it’s amazing (see my photos from my October 10 – 13, 2014 trip below – in High color.)

For more information and weekday train times, visit the official Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway website:  http://www.lgsry.com
